I must say when I first picked this book it was the introduction to the book that drew me in. Women desire to live well. However, living well in this modern world is a challenge. The pace of life, along with the new front porch of social media, has changed the landscape of our lives. Women have been told for far too long that being on the go and accumulating more things will make their lives full. As a result, we grasp for the wrong things in life and come up empty.
God created us to walk with him; to know him and to be loved by him. He is our living well and when we drink from the water he continually provides, it will change us. Our marriages, our parenting, and our homemaking will be transformed. Courtney is a blogger like many of us. I found her blog posts fun, helpful and just an all around brightening to my day. I have added hers to my list of ones I choose to follow. I have also looked at her many resources that she has available.
I find as a Mom life can get so out of control, from meetings, school events, doctor visits, tests at the various hospitals and clinics with our children, the needs of the family - husband and children. I have heard that there are ones that say things like "perfect woman" "perfect Mom" ... the impression in the book you think that Courtney Joseph has it all together, but we learn that Courtney Joseph writes with grace and humor, reminding us, as she puts it, that “perfect women aren’t real, and real women aren’t perfect….but that should not stop us from pursuing a good and godly life” (p. 148). I really liked that she wrote this because it really puts things in perspective. We all fall apart in our lives; meaning we may not meet all the needs that are planned for that day or things in that week. We have to learn to shift what we can to the next day - take it in stride. Enjoy life!!!!
I must say that this book was a quick read for me. I went through it rather quickly, but absorbing things along the way and writing things down. My son said to me often while I was reading this, "Mom you won't have any ink left if you keep writing like that. What are you writing?? Mom you won't have paper left!" I had to laugh sometimes, it was too cute!! I have him hooked on reading as well. I am always looking for books that we can read together. I value the things that inspired me through this book. I will be and have put things into my life and things are even better than before.
Thanks for stopping by!!!
Grace & Peace,
