March 26-27 Make Up Your Own Holiday Blog Hop

Posted by Leah

Welcome to our Make Up Your own Holiday Hop...we're glad you decided to join us.  Thank you for hopping along with us ~ There are many great projects that you've seen along the way and will see up on ahead to the end of the hop.  If you've come from Kay Craig at 100 Things   you are in the right place.  If you haven't and you just happened to stumble on to me...welcome.  Feel free to start at the beginning with  Karel J. at One By One the Flamingo's are Stealing my Sanity!

Family Harvest Day!!

Each year we look forward to celebrating harvest.  We go to our nature center and enjoy the apple cider, barbecue chicken, corn on the cob, cinnamon donut (psst! Perfect with the cider), the favorite one of the family is the Kettle Corn.  Oh does our little one love it!!! We get there and that’s the first words out of his mouth, “Can we get kettle corn Mama?”  Hey, we have to just do it.  We then spend time looking at all the crafters booths as there are well over a hundred there. The booths are interesting because you get to see all the mediums of crafts from things with wool to wooden sticks to pinecone air fresheners, pinecone fire starters.  Oh, then the various foods that some of the crafters have… oh it’s good!!!! They even give out samples too.  (I just have to remember to save my points for those, LOL) Then the contests they have oh they’re fun, there’s a fruit and vegetable carving contest is just one.  There’s concerts, there’s puppet shows (those are funny!) there’s magic shows; my little one gets into those.  He loves to help as well.  There’s fun games for the children and they can win medals ~ they’re really neat they’re made from wood.  There’s the petting zoo; that’s always interesting.  Then the hayrides with the Clydesdale horses – that’s fun!!!!  The part the little one loves the most and so do I is the face painting and the making of your own shirt.  I love to do this with the little one.  Now in honor of our day; my card.

The corn is something that I designed in Cricut Design Studio. I did have a couple on cartridges I own, but they just didn't seem to fit the holiday so I designed one.  To finish the day we have our harvest plates and use them for our meal and we serve favorite harvest foods then have our snack of kettle corn then followed sometimes by ice cream.  Now we have to have fun right we set up some of our own challenging games then talk about our day.

Here's a second project that I have added in for the Make Up Your Own Holiday Blog Hop.  I did this because the hop runs for two days.  This one is special in our family just as much as Family Harvest Day is.  This one is....

Celebrate You Day!!

This family holiday is very fun for us.  We celebrate things other than just birthday's and anniversaries.   We celebrate things like new job, a promotion, a raise, a good review (hubby), a good evaluation (Robbie), an achievement in school, making the Design Team, making the Cricut Chirp, getting on the Principal's Pride, bringing a special star home from school, good report card, good report from speech therapy, good report from physical therapy, good report from occupational therapy,...etc.  These are just a few that we have celebrated.  We find reasons to pull our celebration plate out.

I just wanted to share with you some fun in our family.  Thank you for hopping along with us.  Your next hop is to Calie at Calie’s Creative Corner   Thank you again... now hop on ...  Calie has a wonderful project in store for you to see.

You really make me want to go to that Fall day. I live in Florida and we have Summer and a few months of nothing, then summer again. Fall kind of amazes me since I don't ever get to see it.
